Recognizing the Signs
Crow's feet, known clinically as lateral canthal lines, are the fan of fine lines that radiate outward from the outer corners of the eyes. They are dynamic wrinkles created by the orbicularis oculi, the ring-shaped muscle that closes the eye each time you smile, laugh, or squint. Over years of repeated movement, the overlying skin begins to hold a crease even at rest.
When you look at a recent photo and notice the delicate lines beside your eyes stay visible after your smile fades, you are seeing the early stage of crow's feet. Many patients first notice them in bright sunlight or in close-up images, where the folds catch shadow and read as tired or older than they feel.
At Healthy Enhancements, injector Melissa Lawler, APRN, treats this area with a conservative, education-first approach. The goal is never a frozen look. Most patients simply want to soften the lines while keeping a genuine, expressive smile, and that natural result guides every treatment plan.
